What Is a Good Typing Speed?
Measure yours first with the free typing speed test. Pick 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds and it shows your WPM, accuracy and errors as you type, in English or Vietnamese.
What WPM means
WPM is words per minute. Our test counts every five correctly typed characters as one word, so short and long words even out, and mistakes don't add to your score. Accuracy is the share of typed characters that were correct.
Speed means little without accuracy
Fifty WPM with many errors is slower in real work than forty WPM typed cleanly, because every mistake costs a backspace and a second look. Watch the accuracy figure as closely as the speed.
Which test length to use
- 15–30 seconds: warm-up, or testing a single habit.
- 60 seconds: the usual benchmark to compare with others or with your past results.
- 120 seconds: shows whether you keep your speed when you get tired.
A 10-minute daily routine
1. Do one 60-second test and note your WPM and accuracy.
2. Practice three 30-second rounds, focusing only on zero errors.
3. Finish with another 60-second test.
Track the numbers over a week; accuracy usually improves first, then speed.
