FAQ

How is each password built?

Every character comes from crypto.getRandomValues in your browser, mapped onto the sets you leave checked. Uppercase, lowercase, digits, and the symbols !@#$%^&*()-_=+[]{};:,.?/|~ are on by default. The length slider runs from 8 to 64 and starts at 18.

Which characters does the confusing-character option remove?

It removes O, 0, I, l, and 1 from every selected set before the password is built, so the result is easier to read aloud. The other characters in those sets stay available.

What do Strong, Good, and Basic mean?

They are labels on this page, not a breach-list check. Strong appears only when the password is at least 20 characters and both numbers and symbols are enabled. Otherwise 14 or more characters is labeled Good, and a shorter password is Basic.

Is the password saved or sent anywhere?

No. It is created in your browser and shown on the page. Copy places it on your clipboard. DangNH Studio does not receive it, and this page does not store a password vault.

What if every character type is turned off?

Generate stops and asks you to turn on at least one of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, or symbols. It will not invent a password from an empty set.
